FAQs

Why should my child learn a second language?

Studies show that exposure to a second language can increase test scores in science, vocabulary and social studies. Teaching your child a second language has numerous benefits including giving them a leg up professionally as they embark on their own career some day. Giving your child the gift of a second language is a gift that will last a lifetime. What’s more? The United States of America is expected to be the largest Spanish-speaking country by 2050. There are more than 45 million Spanish speakers in the U.S. currently. A second language as popular and widely used as Spanish would be a wonderful skillset to have.

My child has not had any exposure to Spanish, will he/she be comfortable in your school?

Yes! Our teachers are caring and experienced and will always put the safety, security and comfort of the children first. All of our teachers are fully bilingual in Spanish and English. Some of our teachers even know a third language!

Our school is designed for children who do not yet understand or speak the Spanish language. Of course, children at any skill level with the Spanish language are welcome to attend. Our teachers ensure a smooth transition to the Spanish language by using lots of visual cues and drama to help the students understand. And the students love the “drama” and “enthusiasm” of our teachers!

What do you mean by full-immersion?

When your child begins classes at TBS, our staff will use a lot of English along with some Spanish to help children to begin to understand and become accustomed to the Spanish language. The ratio of English/Spanish stays that way until students get to know their teachers, and become familiar with the expectations and daily activities of their school. Over several weeks time, the teachers will begin a smooth transition and will speak less English and more Spanish with your child directly until eventually Spanish will be primarily spoken. Of course, teachers will always offer a word or short sentence in English if students may not understand what is being said. But, children are very fast learners. They will soon understand and respond to conversation in the Spanish language without much help in English!

How is tuition calculated?

The tuition is calculated for the year, and is divided into ten monthly payments. Tuition is calculated by taking the total tution for the semester, then dividing by the number of months in the semester. Thus, per month, tuition cost is the same, regardless of the number of weeks of preschool in that month.
